CITROEN '17 DETAILS
Alright folks, we have the all clear from the land owner to base ourselves back at Citroen put in this year.
Please do not camp there. There are options to camp down stream at Roaring Meg put in or Dogleg take out. There are toilets in both locations.
Please do not remove the gate to Citroen. We will open the gate Saturday morning, but if you are wanting to access the river before the weekend and the gate is closed/locked, please park on the road and walk over the land or just put in at the bridge.
EVENT DETAILS: Saturday March 11th
REGISTRATION: 9am - 945am at Citroen put in. $25 cash only
BRIEFING: 10am
RACING: We'll attempt to start racing by 1130am at the rapid
PRIZE GIVING: Back at the put in once racing is all finished up and we've cleared all the gear from the river bank.
AFTER PARTY: Red Rock Cafe. They've offered us food from $10 and drink specials all night as well as bar tabs.
IMPORTANT:
1. No throwbag = no entry! If the finisher asks to see your throwbag and you do not have one, you will be disqualified!
2. It's usually hot. Bring sunscreen, drink and food. Expect a few hours at the river.
I'm still looking for a couple of helpers, so if you're not racing and want to score the cheap drinks at the party, find me in the morning.
Happy paddling.

CITROEN 2017 - The show must go on!
MARCH 11th 2017, Kawarau River Queenstown
After a couple years away from our traditional entry ramp boater cross format, it's looking like we'll be back it at for 2017.
I'm fairly confident the race will be based out of the Citroen put in this year, after having re-built land owner - kayaker relations last year. However, camping at the put in will still be strictly forbidden! Please respect that it is a privilege being able to utilise the land at the put in, NOT a right.
Further posts to come with details.
What I can tell you for certain is that the AFTER PARTY will be hosted by RED ROCK this year.
STAY TUNED.

2015 IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Hi everyone, sorry for the complete lack of beta for this years event, it snuck up on me super quick..
Please read this carefully and share with all of your friends. (Especially those without facebook)
1. There is to be NO camping at the Citroen put in. If you want to stay in the gorge prior to the event you can camp at dogleg take out at the bottom of rafters road. Alternatively you can also stay at Roaring Meg put in (the plywood shed is a toilet). Please respect this wish as we are trying to re-build rapport with the farmer after some dubious goings on over the last few years.
2. The race will be based out of the Roaring Meg put in. Registration ($20 cash), briefing, prize giving, you name it, it is happening at the Roaring meg put in. 9am -10am registration, 10am briefing. From Roaring Meg we will organise shuttles up stream.
3. No throwbag = no entry. Bring your safety gear, you are all there to look out for each other. On that note, please ensure you have run the rapid before signing up to race.
4. Bring your own food, water, sunscreen etc. Allow for a good few hours on the water. My shoes are in real bad nick so BYO booties just in case.
5. Spectators. I haven't managed to lock in a boat to enable non-kayaking spectators to get to the river, but stay tuned, I'm working on it.
6. It's is looking dubious that we will manage to get riverside tunes.. Fingers crossed we get a boat bring the sounds, but perhaps byo sounds to keep your party going.
7. The after party is hosted by Xtreme Bar in Queenstown. We have bar tabs to give away throughout the night. They get stoked on playing vids for us, so if you've got something appropriate you want to play, stick it on a USB and we'll try and get it big screen.

CITROEN 2014!
Well I've finally motivated to post some info on the 2014 event...
DATE: Feb 22nd
TIME: 10am-1130am registration, 130pm racing, 7pm/all day party...
COST: $25
LOCATION: Citroen rapid, Kawarau River, Queenstown
Due to my energy being focussed elsewhere this Spring/Summer, I've decided to make the event sponsor free. Hence the price decrease. This means no t-shirts (I will however print stickers again), no pre-registration, just show up at the Citroen put in on Saturday morning with some dosh and good vibes.
The format will continue as it has in the past, with one seeding round, and knock out head to heads to follow.
Heats are of 3 or 4 people with two always qualifying to the next round.
PLEASE DO NOT ENTER IF YOU ARE NOT A SOLID COMPETENT CLASS 4+ KAYAKER!
Boats will be available to ferry spectators as per previous years, so rally your non-kayaker or less able kayaker friends to come get amongst.
If you (or anyone you know) are able to volunteer your services on the day I am interested to hear from you. email me on thomson_dylan@hotmail.com
SPREAD THE WORD AND I"LL SEE YOU THERE!!
Meanwhile... check out a vid from last year's event.
